Year 5 Field Trip Lecture

Year 5 had a wonderful and enriching experience during an interactive science lecture called Travelers in Nature. The session was led by zoologist Juraj Čačaný from the Natural History Museum in Bratislava, who introduced the children to the remarkable ways animals travel, navigate, and adapt to their environments.

Throughout the lecture, the students discovered why some animals migrate thousands of kilometers, how certain species use the Earth’s magnetic field to find their way, and what surprising strategies animals use to survive in changing conditions. The atmosphere was filled with curiosity and excitement as students listened, asked questions, and shared their own observations about animals they knew.

The hands-on elements of the program made the experience especially memorable. Through interactive activities and demonstrations, students were able to imagine themselves in the role of different animals, testing how movement and survival strategies differ across species. Many of them were amazed to learn how even the smallest creatures can achieve extraordinary feats when traveling through nature.

The trip sparked many great conversations among the children afterward, as they eagerly compared what surprised them the most and which animals impressed them with their unique abilities. Moments like these show how beneficial learning outside the classroom can be, helping students build deeper understanding through real experiences.

A special thank you to Slovak teacher Ms. Dominika for organizing this wonderful learning experience for our students.
