My Favourite Holiday – A Poster Project by Year 7
A travel reflection by Veronica Podhradska, Year 7 student at EISB
As we enjoy the summer holidays – a time for rest, travel, and new experiences – I’d like to take a moment to look back at some of the wonderful work our students did before the end of the school year.
In our German class, we focused on learning the past tense. I truly enjoy teaching this grammar because once students master it, they can talk in a foreign language about their most beautiful memories and adventures they experienced – and that is such a personal and meaningful way to use what they have learned.
What’s your favourite holiday memory? 🙂
One lovely example comes from Veronica Podhradska. She wrote about her favourite holiday and created a beautiful poster in German. Below, I’m sharing the English translation of her text, followed by the original German version.
Enjoy reading, and happy holidays!
Holiday!
Last year, I went to the island of Brač. Brač is located in Croatia.
I flew there by plane and stayed at the Bretanide Hotel.
I went swimming, and it was so much fun!
I loved it. We went into town and sat on the sand watching the sunset.
I ate Arrabbiata pasta and drank juice. I also had ice cream. It was so delicious!
There were so many cats, and I even saw a kitten. She was super cute.
In the water, I found some sea glass in green, pink, and white.
I swam in the sea, and there were small fishes swimming beside me.
We went kayaking to small islands, and I saw a little crab.
The sky was so blue.
I got a tan but also got sunburned. We stayed there for seven days.
I tried new jumps in the water like front flips, arrows, and cannonballs.
I also bought a painting. That was my best holiday!— Veronica
