EISB Students visit Zimný štadión Ondreja Nepelu
As part of the “Introduction to Sport” unit, Year 3 students had the opportunity to experience an unforgettable visit to the iconic TIPOS Aréna – ZIMNÝ ŠTADIÓN ONDREJA NEPELU, home of Slovan Bratislava.
One of the most impactful moments was the visit to the first team’s locker rooms. Students were able to observe how players prepare before each match, the equipment they use, and the discipline required to be part of a professional team.
Students visited different sections of the stands and then went down to the ice rink, allowing them to compare both perspectives and notice the differences in viewing and experiencing the game from each location. We also visited the VIP seats, where students appreciated the comfort and exclusivity of this area reserved for special guests and sponsors.
Additionally, we made a stop at the stadium’s gym, where students learned about the training routines and physical conditioning followed by professional athletes. We also visited the Hall of Fame, where we heard some of the club’s most famous stories and admired some representative items, such as trophies and jerseys. Observing the facilities and specialized equipment allowed us to understand the importance of physical preparation in high-performance sports.
During the visit, we reflected on essential values in sports, such as teamwork, perseverance, respect, and dedication. These principles are not only fundamental for success in professional hockey but also applicable to everyday life and any field where discipline and effort are key.
We also had the opportunity to visit the press room, the place where conferences and interviews take place after the games. Our students became players, coaches, and journalists for a few minutes!
From EISB, we thank the Slovan Bratislava team for opening the doors of their home and providing us with an enriching experience, especially Mr. Dominik and Mr. Jakub, who guided us throughout the tour and shared their knowledge about the stadium and the world of hockey. Without a doubt, this visit left a lasting impression on our students, who returned to school with new perspectives on sports and the world of professional hockey.
