A Spooky Success: Halloweek and the Haunted School

Last week, the school transformed Halloween into a learning adventure by blending it with our annual Theme Week, resulting in a thrilling “Halloweek.” This fusion brought the idea of a haunted school to life, with each department curating unique escape rooms inspired by their subjects. The Science Department led the way with a STEM-focused room that incorporated puzzles rooted in Physics, Math, Chemistry, and Biology, offering visitors a memorable, interactive experience that was both challenging and fun.

In the Math Room, guests faced a system of equations puzzle, requiring collaboration among teammates to find the solution and escape. The Physics Room was equally engaging, as students had to locate a hidden UV light to reveal a secret message written in invisible ink, adding an element of discovery and problem-solving. In the Chemistry Room, the escape required an understanding of pH, with students determining the correct combination to open a lock by testing three unknown substances. For Biology, a life-sized puzzle involved assembling a body from hidden parts, and to add a practical element, students practiced RCP (resuscitation) on their newly assembled “patients.” These creative, STEM-themed challenges made the STEM room a major highlight, as students fully immersed themselves in solving each puzzle with curiosity and teamwork.

The week culminated on Friday, with students and teachers alike embracing the Halloween spirit in costumes, adding to the festive energy. The Parents Association also joined in with delightful surprises, bringing an added layer of excitement to the week’s end. For both students and teachers, this was more than just a fun Halloween-themed event. It became a hands-on, minds-on experience that gave everyone a chance to explore subjects in new, innovative ways. Halloweek successfully brought education to life through puzzles, teamwork, and an atmosphere of spooky excitement, creating memories we’re sure to look forward to next year.
