Stop and Smell the Roses

If you are in the city during these summer months and are looking to travel around the world, then look no further then the Botanical Gardens. Without racking up much of a carbon footprint, you can walk around biomes found in different parts of the world and be mesmerized by the amazing nature which lovingly shares this planet with us and keeps us breathing and in awe.

Young and old will find something to do here. If you have children of any age a suggestion for a fun activity is to bring some good drawing paper, some pencils and colors, and find a lovely place to sit and sketch something around you. This quiet activity will allow you to immerse yourself in the experience with your different senses. Another suggested activity is to do a scavenger hunt finding plants from different continents, making it more or less detailed depending on the age of the child. And don’t forget to stop and smell the roses.

When I was 8 years old one of my favorite things to do was to visit the market with my grandmother and eat a warm garlicky langoš. Little did I know at that time that it would be another 32 years until I would be at the same place, reminiscing about the beautiful memories of my grandmother while eating this delicacy. I call it the langoš 360. A 360 turn of living, studying and teaching around the world.
