Exploring pop music through posters in Year 2 music lessons

Year 2 have embarked on a fun and educational project where each student explored their favorite pop singer or band and created a poster to showcase their findings. Here’s a peek into our activities and the amazing work our students have done!

We started by diving into the world of pop music. We discussed what makes pop music unique and listened to some catchy tunes from artists like Taylor Swift, BTS, and Ed Sheeran. The students loved identifying the upbeat rhythms and memorable melodies that characterize pop music.

Each student got the chance to think about their favorite pop singer or band. We had a discussion where everyone shared their choices and I helped them to explain why they love their selected artist. The most popular band amongst our Year 2 students ended up to be the Imagine Dragons. We displayed the posters in the school stairway.

This project has been a quick journey into the world of pop music. Our Year 2 students not only enhanced their understanding and appreciation of music but also developed important research, creative, and presentation skills. I am proud of their creativity. Many of them are talented in Art too!
