Year 6 and the Bridge to Terabithia
Year 6 have been reading the famous Katherine Paterson novel, Bridge to Terabithia. We finished reading it at the end of last week, and are continuing our work with it.
This novel has been a personal favourite of mine, having read it as a boy. I taught it for the first time way back in the first year that I taught Year 6, or 5th grade, since I was in the U.S. at that time. Its themes of friendship and family, courage and responsibility are universal themes which fit our PYP programme very well. We are using it in many different areas as well, such as spelling, vocabulary, writing and art.
