Academic year 2021-22: back to school conditions

The new academic year will start on Thursday, September 2.

School Traffic Lights

The Ministry of Education has compiled the SCHOOL TRAFFIC LIGHT manual in order to maintain a safe environment in schools.

Students need to bring a Written declaration/Písomné vyhlásenie o bezpríznakovosti when they return to school and then bring a new declaration to the class teacher whenever the student has been absent for more than 3 consecutive school days.

Students with symptoms of COVID-19 will not be admitted to school.

A parent or legal guardian is obliged to inform the class teacher and the school principal immediately in the event of COVID-19 in the family or close contact with someone who has tested positive for the disease.

Fulltime learning

Fulltime learning will take place at school during the whole academic year.

The school principal may preventively interrupt learning in a class or classes in which someone has tested positive for COVID-19 during the period of 2 days prior to testing. The quarantine obligation after close contact with someone who has tested positive applies to a person (valid for students 11+) who:

  1. is at least 14 days past the 2nd vaccination (Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, Sputnik V)
  2. is at least 21 days past the 1st vaccination (Johnson & Johnson)
  3. is at least 14 days past the 1st vaccination if the first dose of vaccination was given within 180 days of the onset of COVID-19, or
  4. has overcome COVID-19 in a period not more than 180 days,

and does not show clinical symptoms of COVID-19.

These individuals will not be required to quarantine if they come into close contact with a person who has tested positive for COVID-19.

Parents are welcome to inform the school if a child fulfills the conditions for the quarantine exemption by submitting the form Quarantine exemption notification/Oznámenie o výnimke z karantény.

Wearing masks

Wearing a mask is mandatory all day for all students from Year 2. For children in Preschool and Year 1, wearing a mass is highly recommended. Parents should provide their children with at least two masks (children should carry the spare with them) and tissues.
