Exploring Careers in Our Community: Inspiring Future Makeup Artists in Year 2

In our most recent unit, Year 2 students embarked on an exciting journey to explore various careers within our community. The aim was to give our young learners a glimpse into different professions, inspiring them to dream big about their future.

We were thrilled to kick off this unit with a visit from Yana Karim, a talented makeup artist and parent of one of our Year 2 students. Yana shared her experiences in the world of makeup artistry, captivating the students with stories about her career. She explained the creative process behind her work, from conceptualizing designs to executing them on clients. The students were fascinated to learn about the artistic and technical skills required in this profession.

The highlight of Jana’s visit was a hands-on activity where she painted small designs on the students’ faces. This interactive experience not only delighted the children but also sparked their creativity and curiosity. They were eager to learn more and to try their hands at face painting.

Building on this inspiration, the students spent the following week working in teams to design their own face paint creations. This activity encouraged collaboration, as they brainstormed ideas, shared their visions, and combined their talents to create unique designs. The excitement was palpable as they painted each other’s faces, bringing their designs to life.

The results were fantastic! Each child had the chance to showcase their artistic skills, and the pride in their work was evident. We may have a few budding makeup artists among us, as many of the students expressed a newfound interest in this creative career.
