Learning About Cycles Through Art: Our Four Seasons Tree

In our preschool classroom, we have been learning about cycles in nature, especially the changing seasons. To explore this idea in a creative way, the children created an abstract painting of a Four Seasons Tree.

Each part of the tree represented a different season. The children used different colors, textures, and painting techniques to show how a tree changes throughout the year. Bright greens for spring, warm colors for autumn, cool blues and whites for winter, and vibrant shades for summer helped bring each season to life.

This activity allowed children to explore art while also learning about how nature changes in a repeating cycle. As they painted, we talked about what happens to trees during each season and what changes they notice outside.

Projects like this help children connect science and creativity. They practice observing the world around them while expressing their ideas through art—and the results are always unique and beautiful.
