Ski Trip 2026: Part One

In the first week of the second semester, our Academy students attended a ski trip. Even though we kept telling them to consider it not a trip, but a week-long PE lesson, they seemed to enjoy every minute of it!

This blog focuses on the skiing experience of our students. A photo gallery can be found at the bottom of this post.

On the morning of the first day of skiing, even before the instructors split the students into three groups, we all took the cable car all the way to the top of the mountain. To our surprise, that’s where the blue training piste was located. All the students were valiant and, despite the thick fog, performed as instructed. Once split into groups, the skiing began!

On the first day, we skied until the afternoon. For some students, it was a new experience, while others needed to remember how they had done it in the past. For others, it was as natural as walking. However, the large blue piste on the north-western slope, where we all skied on the first day, proved to be a challenge for all of us.

On the second day, the skiing was much more fluent. However, we were once again reminded how quickly the weather in the mountains can change. By lunchtime, there was already a snow blizzard with strong winds. Riding the cable car felt like sitting on a roller coaster. We therefore decided to end the day early and proceed with an alternate program—sledding.

The third day was crowned by many as the best day of the ski trip. After a morning warm-up on the blue piste, all of our students proceeded to the many red pistes on the eastern slopes of the mountain. Some pistes, albeit straight, were truly fast! But it was not all about speed—the students began practicing various skiing techniques, including tandem skiing in pairs. What a sight it was to see 10–15 pairs of our students holding poles together and skiing in circles!

On the last day, we planned to ski until lunch; however, the day was once again cut short by rain on the northern slope. Despite the conditions, the students enjoyed the pistes, and by the end of skiing, all of us were both energized and exhausted from this week-long PE lesson.

I think that, once again, we already know what we want to do next year!
