Exploring Art Through Poetry
As part of our current Unit on how we express ourselves – poetry, our Year 5 students visited Bibiana – The International House of Art in Bratislava to explore how visual art can inspire creative expression.
The visit allowed students to step beyond the classroom and experience art in an authentic setting. Surrounded by imaginative exhibitions designed especially for young audiences, they observed colours, shapes, emotions, and stories captured through visual media. This experience encouraged them to think critically and reflect on how art communicates meaning without words.

Through careful observation and discussion, students began making connections between visual imagery and poetic language. They explored how artists and poets both use symbolism, mood, and perspective to express ideas and emotions.
This field trip supported student inquiry and strengthened their understanding that creativity can take many forms. By engaging with art in a real-world context, our learners deepened their appreciation for both visual and literary expression within our IB learning community.
