Paper Full of Surprises

Discover what our students craft with paper, from personalized notebooks to pop-up cards at the Crafting Club.

At our school, we believe that learning goes beyond textbooks and classrooms. The Crafting Club offers students the opportunity to explore their creativity, develop practical skills, and express themselves through hands-on activities.

During our last two Crafting Club sessions, we focused on working with paper. Using cardboard and office paper, students created their own handmade notebooks. These notebooks can be used for notes, drawings, or to keep small or big secrets. Each notebook was unique, as students designed and decorated the front covers according to their own preferences, styles, and ideas.

In the following session, we explored the art of pop-up cards, which are perfect for many different occasions. Some students created cards for friends or parents, while one student made a special card for her sister’s birthday. Seeing the cards prepared as thoughtful, personal gifts made the activity even more meaningful.

Working with paper also required patience and fine motor skills, especially when creating the pop-up elements. Careful folding and precision were essential to achieve the desired “origami moment of surprise” when the card was opened. The joy on the students’ faces when their designs came to life was truly rewarding.

The Crafting Club supports creativity, craftsmanship, and personal expression—values that closely align with the IB philosophy of holistic learning. We look forward to many more creative projects and moments of inspiration together.
