Exploring the Past: Ancient Artifacts and the Present Day
This week, for our second unit, students have been exploring artifacts and comparing them to the objects we use today. We’ve been thinking about how life has changed—and what has stayed the same—over time.
The students helped to create a Venn diagram to compare items from the past with modern objects, identifying what is unique to history, what belongs to the present, and what overlaps both eras. They also completed an activity where they matched pictures of objects to past, present, or both, encouraging them to think carefully about the purpose and history of each item.
It was wonderful to see the students engage with history in such a hands-on way and make connections between the past and our lives today. Their curiosity and creativity really brought the lesson to life!
We can’t wait to continue exploring more about ancient civilizations and the artifacts they left behind, and to see how students continue to draw connections between history and modern life.
