A Sunday with School Whispers – A Different Kind of Theatre

As a Slovak language teacher, I had the opportunity to take part in an inspiring event on Sunday, April 13th, called School Whispers, organized by the P. O. Hviezdoslav Theatre (DPOH). The aim of the program is to build a bridge between schools and the theatre – through teachers who become so-called “school whispers.” These whispers will recommend suitable performances for students and act as ambassadors between their schools and the theatre.

The meeting had a warm, informal atmosphere – over coffee and cake, we had the chance to talk with the theatre’s director, Valeria Schulczová, as well as actresses Zuzana Kronerová, Kristína Tormová, Henrieta Mičkovicová, and others. The discussions were inspiring and offered valuable insights into theatre-making and the importance of dramatic arts for students.

To wrap up the event, we were invited to the performance of “The Savior from Lower Honov”, which perfectly complemented the topics discussed. This Sunday at the theatre was not only enriching but also very enjoyable – especially in the company of my colleague, a fellow theatre enthusiast.
