A Day of Tradition, Fun, and Community

On Wednesday, January 29, our school was filled with excitement as we came together to celebrate Korean New Year. Thanks to the participation of the Korean families in our school community, we had the opportunity to experience the beauty of this cultural tradition firsthand. The day was packed with engaging activities, traditional games, and delicious food that transported everyone into the festive spirit of Seollal.

Students were especially thrilled to try out the traditional Korean games, many of which they recognized from TV shows.  The enthusiasm in the air was contagious as they immersed themselves in this new cultural experience, gaining a deeper appreciation for Korean traditions.

Of course, no celebration would be complete without food, and the Korean families generously shared some of their most beloved dishes. From the comforting taste of Tteokguk, the rice cake soup traditionally eaten during the New Year, to other delightful treats, the students had the chance to savor flavors that were both new and exciting. Sharing a meal together made the experience even more meaningful, strengthening the sense of connection and unity within our school.

This celebration was more than just a fun event; it was a beautiful moment of cultural exchange that brought our community closer together. Seeing students and families from different backgrounds come together to learn, play, and enjoy each other’s traditions was a reminder of the diverse and welcoming environment we have at our school. As we move forward in the school year, we cherish these moments that remind us how important it is to celebrate and learn from one another.
