Learning Letters in Slovak Language Class
In our Slovak language class, students are diving into the world of letters in a fun and interactive way. We had a special visitor—a monster named The Letter Eater. This mischievous creature “ate” letters from the alphabet, challenging our students to use their knowledge to bring these letters back!
With our Year 2 class, we used the letters that The Letter Eater snacked on to come up with words that began with those letters. This activity sparked a lot of creativity and helped students expand their vocabulary in a playful way.
For our Year 3 students, the challenge was a bit different. When The Letter Eater devoured a letter, students had to identify which letter comes before and after it in the alphabet. This exercise helped them practice their alphabetical order and letter recognition while having a great time.
These interactive activities allow our students to develop foundational skills in Slovak while making language learning an exciting adventure!
We’re excited to share that our Year 2 students have started learning to write letters! During today’s Slovak language class, students took part in a letter-writing adventure through various activity stations, each with its own unique challenge.
At the first station, they practiced writing the letters “A” and “M” (both uppercase and lowercase) on paper, focusing on correct form and strokes.
At the second station, they wrote these letters on the board, gaining confidence in letter formation.
At the third station, students had the chance to trace and write the letters in rice, adding a tactile element to help reinforce their skills.
Finally, at the fourth station, they used modeling clay to shape the letters, combining creativity with fine motor skills.
These hands-on activities help students engage with the writing process and build a strong foundation for developing their Slovak language skills.
