School has celebrated Ethiopian New Year

Today the whole school celebrated the 2017 Ethiopian New Year, and we can say that the holiday was a success!
On this day in Epiopia people wear white clothes and decorate them with national ornaments. Yellow flowers are considered to be the symbol of the New Year.
All 11th grade students came to school today in white. Each of them had a special crown of flowers on their head. In the foyer of the school, a poster with the words Happy New Year! in Ethiopian was placed on a prepared stand. The students prepared many pictures of yellow flowers and offered everyone entering the school to perform a special holiday ritual: it was necessary to take a picture of a flower, make a wish, blow on the flower and stick it to the outline of any letter on the poster. All visitors: parents, students of all ages, teachers liked it. The number of people wishing to get a crown of flowers grew.

After classes in the canteen, our chemistry teacher Mr. Yosef organized a ceremonial celebration of the holiday. He told the history of the event, introduced the guests from the Representative Office of the Republic of Ethiopia, and told about national dishes. Each of us had the opportunity to taste these delicious dishes.

The day was emotionally charged and positive. I was happy for my students and their desire to actively participate in such events.
