Our Theatre Adventure: Terezka and Stratočas

As a Slovak language teacher, I love to give children experiences where they can hear and enjoy the language outside the classroom. One of the best ways is through theatre. Today, our students from Y2 to Y6 visited the P. O. Hviezdoslav Theatre to see the play Terezka and Stratočas.

The story was about a 12-year-old girl, Terezka, who spent too much time on her phone and forgot about the real world. A villain called Stratočas released a “time virus” that stole people’s most precious gift – time. Terezka had only 24 hours to save Bratislava. On her journey she met many magical characters, like a water sprite, a nymph, a devil, the inventor Kempelen, and a beekeeper. Together they showed her that real power comes from courage and cooperation.

The children enjoyed the play very much. Younger students loved the costumes, masks, and music, while older students noticed the important message about mobile phone use and how valuable our time really is. After the play we talked about what they would do if they were in Terezka’s place, and how they can use their own time better.

From Terezka and Stratočas we learned that time is precious and we should use it wisely – not only on screens. We are already looking forward to our next theatre adventure!
