🔎 Learning How to Learn Through Games..

🌍 Games, Research and Learning: Our Journey Around the World….

Our Who We Are unit has taken us on a little journey around the world — through games! 🌍🎮

As we explored how children play in different places, we also started using our computers more independently and began our first steps into research using Google.

After exploring different games, we chose three to investigate:

Patintero from the Philippines
Onigokko from Japan
Blind Man’s Bluff from Europe

The children worked in three groups, with each group researching one game. They looked at where the game comes from, how it is played, the rules and the number of players. But they soon discovered that games are about much more than rules!

Through their research, they found that games can help us with counting, skip counting, coordination, concentration, movement, quick thinking, teamwork and communication. It was lovely to see them making these connections themselves and recognising that we can learn while we play.

Once their research was complete, each group created a paper presentation and shared their findings with the class. They listened to one another, asked questions and gave feedback about what they enjoyed and what could be improved. ⭐

Throughout the experience, the children were developing their research skills and showing their Open-minded attitude as they explored games from different cultures. They also made strong connections to play and relationships through teamwork, cooperation and communication.

What a wonderful way to learn — by playing, researching, sharing and learning from each other! 🌍💭🎮
