In our MYP3 Spanish class, students recently completed a short project called “Consejos para la clase” as part of the unit El colegio es mi vida. The goal of the project was to practice giving advice in Spanish while thinking about positive habits in the classroom. Students worked with simple structures used to give recommendations, such as tienes que (you have to), deberías (you should), es importante (it is important), and ¿por qué no…? (why don’t you…?). These expressions help students communicate useful suggestions in everyday situations.
Working in pairs, students first discussed what advice they would give to classmates to help them learn better at school. They then wrote short scripts with clear and simple recommendations related to classroom behavior, participation, and organization.
As a final product, students created around four short videos (around 30 seconds each) giving advice for classmates at EISB. While preparing their videos, they practiced pronunciation, fluency, and clear communication. Some groups also added Spanish subtitles to show the correct grammar.
After recording, students watched each other’s videos and shared feedback. This helped them reflect on how clearly the advice was presented and how accurately the Spanish language was used.
This project allowed students to practice speaking, writing, and collaboration, while also reinforcing positive classroom habits.
It was a creative way to apply Spanish to a real-life context and to build confidence using the language.
