Sometimes, “La distancia nos acerca”
One of my favorite bands, La M.O.D.A., has a song called “Nómadas.” The song talks about the feeling of belonging and the constant search, like nomads moving from place to place, always on the move, yet connected to the people and memories we carry with us. It explores themes such as physical distance between people, the passage of time, nostalgia, and how, despite distance or changes, certain human connections remain strong and accompany us.
One of its verses that stays with me constantly is: “La distancia nos acerca”, “Distance brings us closer.” I believe this is the perfect way to begin these farewell words from a place where I have truly felt at home: English International School of Bratislava.
Over the past three years, I’ve had the privilege of growing both personally and professionally in my different roles as a Spanish teacher, Physical Education teacher, and Foreign Languages Coordinator.

I hold many experiences close to my heart, such as the trips to Spain with high school students, the dynamic and fun PE lessons with the youngest children in preschool and Year 1, and those exciting first days teaching Spanish in Primary, a subject introduced for the first time in the Primary curriculum.

I also look back with pride on the PE lessons in Primary, where we not only played sports, but also turned them into a tool to learn about geography, culture, and the values that stay with us far beyond the classroom.
To all the parents and students I’ve met along the way, thank you. Thank you for making me feel welcome, for letting me teach while learning alongside you, and for helping me discover not only Slovak culture but also many others through your diverse backgrounds.
A special memory for me will always be the Spanish masterclasses we shared with families. Together, we didn’t just study the language, we celebrated traditions and explored the cultural richness of the Spanish-speaking world. Your energy and curiosity created unforgettable moments I’ll carry with me.

I would especially like to thank Mr. Jaymes for trusting me from day one and always supporting every idea or initiative with the goal of improving the life of our school community. I’m also grateful to Mr. Eley for his constant commitment to everyone’s well-being and for always seeking solutions with kindness and humanity.
And of course, I cannot say goodbye without mentioning Miss Karo, who has been one of my greatest personal and professional role models. Working alongside her has been a true privilege, and I will always cherish everything hat I’ve learned from her every day.
This chapter comes to an end, and I leave the school with a mix of emotions. On one hand, a deep sense of joy for all the work done, the projects developed, the experiences shared, and the goals we achieved together. But also an inevitable sadness as I say goodbye, close such an important chapter, and leave behind an environment that has been much more than just a workplace. I say farewell to colleagues who became true friends, to students who left a lasting mark, and to so many people in the school community who have had a great impact on and influence in my daily life over the past three years.

Nos vemos en el camino. See you along the way.
¡Gracias!
