Climbing Our Way to the Top!
After spending the first External Physical Education unit practicing their racket skills on the tennis court, students in Year 2 through Year 6 have moved indoors as they have spent the last several weeks reaching new heights on the climbing walls at Lezecka Stena K2. Students have the opportunity to tackle the traditional climbing walls and also experience the new Kidswall area on an alternating basis each week.
After getting suited up with their climbing shoes, harnesses and helmets, the kids really enjoy figuring out the different routes up the walls and trying to get to the top as fast as they can. But the part most students seem to enjoy the most starts once they’ve reached the top, as they get the thrill of rappelling quickly back down the wall, which feels like flying, according to the kids. Our students will continue to enjoy this feeling every Tuesday and Wednesday through the Christmas Break.
