Meet Yan and Pan
The Power of Focus: Yan and Panโs Insightful Presentation on Selective Listening
During our recent open house , two students, Yan and Pan, delivered an engaging and thought-provoking session on the concept of selective listening. Through a simple yet powerful activity, they demonstrated how our brains process information and how focus can influence what we remember.
They handed out sheets filled with a mix of numbers and alphabets and began reading them aloud. Participants were instructed to focus only on the numbers and repeat them after the reading. As expected, most were able to recall the numbers with ease. However, when asked to recall the alphabets afterward, many found it surprisingly difficult. The activity clearly illustrated how concentrating on one type of information can limit our ability to absorb other details.

Yan and Panโs presentation was not only interactive but also highly effective in helping students understand the importance of attention and focus. It served as a reminder that what we choose to focus on shapes what we learn and remember.
