¡Hola, Spanish! A Great Start in Years 2 and 3

Our Spanish lessons in Year 2 and Year 3 are off to a lovely start! The classrooms are already filled with new words, songs, games and lots of enthusiastic “¡Hola!”

Year 2 students are meeting Spanish for the very first time, and they have quickly discovered that learning a new language can be great fun! We are taking our first steps with colors, numbers and simple introductions, building new vocabulary through games, movement and songs. The children especially enjoy singing “Hola, Hola, ¿Cómo estás?” and are becoming more and more confident using their new Spanish words.

And one of the cutest things? Some children have started greeting me in the hallway every day with a cheerful “¡Hola, maestra!” — a little sign that Spanish is already making its way beyond the classroom! 😊

In Year 3, we are building on the knowledge from last year. We are revisiting familiar topics such as colors, numbers, likes and dislikes, body parts and family members, while gradually introducing more verbs and longer sentences. At the same time, we are welcoming some new students who are experiencing Spanish for the first time. Through differentiated activities, everyone can join in at their own level while learning and having fun together.

From the very first ¡Hola! to full sentences, songs and lively games, our Spanish learners are already making great progress.
