Preseason Is Over. Now It’s Your Turn.
School starts Monday—and so does the next stage of EISB Football.
Our first-ever preseason is officially in the books.
So, what happened?
There was running.
There was learning.
There was pain. 😄
There was definitely resilience.
The guys even got the opportunity to hit Mr. Jayme—and one of them managed to crack his jaw!
(We’re still deciding whether that or actually learning football was the highlight of preseason.)
But the most important thing?
Everyone got better.
And not just a little.
Coach Yatta and I have worked with a lot of football players and teams over the years, both youth and adult. What we’ve seen from this first small group has made us incredibly excited about what EISB Football can become.
These guys are beginners. They’re learning.
But they’re athletic. They’re coachable. They work. And when things got difficult, they kept going.
We believe this group can become very successful.
And we also know there are a lot of students we haven’t seen yet.
That’s where you come in.
Two Guys Deserve a Mention
Our first Resilience Awards go to Alex Riho and Adam Dvorsky.
They can tell you the stories themselves. 😄
The short version: it got hard. They pushed through. They kept going.
That’s the character we want in EISB Football.
And we discovered something else.
Coach Yatta and I have a suspicion that Adam might be the fastest 40-yard runner in Year 10.
Seriously. The kid can run.
We’re not entirely sure he knew that either.
Which makes us wonder:
Who else haven’t we discovered yet?
Maybe you’ve never played football.
Good.
Maybe you don’t know the rules.
We’ll teach you.
Maybe you don’t think you’re a football player.
Neither did some of the guys who just finished preseason.
Don’t decide what you can or can’t do before you’ve tried it.
Come out. Run around. Learn something new. Hit some pads. Catch a football. See what you’re good at.
You might surprise yourself.
We Start Monday
Monday–Friday next week
14:30–16:00
Meet at the track
Bring shoes and clothes you can run in.
That’s it.
Come try tackle football.
Girls and boys interested in Flag Football, come out too. The fundamentals we’re building apply to both, and we want to see how many students are interested.
No experience required.
No need to know your position.
No need to decide whether football is “your sport.”
Just show up and find out. Val showed up just to watch, jumped in and did incredible…in SOCKS! 🙂
We know we’ve got more athletes walking around EISB.
We just haven’t met all of our football players yet.
See you Monday.
