Year 2 German: My Ideal Family Holiday

Spread the love

In our recent unit with Year 2 students, we focused on getting ready for the upcoming summer holidays by exploring the topic of a family holiday.

Throughout the unit, we learned how to name members of the family, as well as different means of transport we use when travelling on holiday. We also discussed items connected with travelling and holidays, along with various activities we can enjoy during a vacation.

Rather than learning this vocabulary separately, the students were introduced to it in context, as part of meaningful experiences. This helped them understand how the language is used in real-life situations and made learning more engaging and natural.

At the end of the unit, the students created posters illustrating their idea of an ideal family holiday. Each poster reflected their creativity and imagination, showing where they would go, who they would travel with, how they would get there, and what activities they would enjoy during their trip.

It was a fun and inspiring way to combine language learning with personal expression, and it gave students the opportunity to share their own holiday dreams with others.
