📊 Year 2 Data Detectives at EISB!

Today our little learners became Data Detectives! 🕵️‍♂️🕵️‍♀️

As part of their Maths inquiry into the unit Healthy Choices, Year 2 designed and carried out their very own surveys. They confidently approached teachers across the school and asked thoughtful questions like:

  • What is your favourite fruit? 🍎🍌🥭

  • Do you prefer pets like cats or dogs? 🐶🐱

  • Which vegetables do you like best? 🥦🥕

  • What is your favourite source of protein? 🍳🥩

  • What colours make you happy? 🎨

The children recorded each response with a “tick tick” tally mark, counted the totals, and then organised their findings into tables and pictograms.

It was inspiring to watch how our young mathematicians are learning to:
✔ ask clear questions
✔ collect and count data accurately
✔ represent information visually
✔ make healthy and thoughtful choices using numbers

This hands-on experience connected Maths, inquiry skills, and wellbeing, making learning both fun and meaningful. 🌟

We are so proud of our Year 2 inquirers who are discovering how numbers and data can help us make better choices every day. 💡
