Growth and Development Workshop

“As our learners develop intellectually, socially, and emotionally through these years from childhood to preliminary stages of adulthood we support them in their endeavors to become independent learners and responsible future global citizens.”
EISB IB MYP Handbook

The Year 7 students participated in a Growth and Development Workshop led by expert Libuša Horváthová.

My name is Libuša Horváthová, and I’ve successfully completed nursing school in Slovakia. I’ve studied English language at City University, Trenčín. I studied International Business at Martin College in Sydney, Australia. I lived in Chicago, USA, for 16 years, where I used to work as a nurse for Obstetrician/ Gynecologist doctor. I’ve also worked as English teacher at ZŠ Senec.”

THE SESSION

During the session, students explored key concepts related to physical, emotional, and social development.

Libuša talked about the different stages of growing up, helping students understand the changes they might go through in the next few years. Through open discussion, students had the chance to think about their own growth and learn more about themselves and their classmates.

The workshop aimed to promote self-awareness and foster healthy attitudes toward personal growth.

What did the workshop cover?

  • What happens during puberty and how our bodies and feelings change as we grow from kids into teenagers
  • Tips on staying clean and taking care of personal hygiene

Overall, the Growth and Development Workshop was a real success. It gave our Year 7 students a safe and supportive space to learn more about the changes they’re going through—both physically and emotionally.

It was great to see them engaged, open, and reflective throughout. We’re proud of the way they approached the experience and hope it helps them feel more confident as they continue to grow.

Special thanks to expert Libuša Horváthová for her engaging presentation, and to Mr. Thomas for organizing the event.
