Paris Trip: Eiffel Tower
The first thing that probably comes to mind when you think of Paris is the Eiffel Tower. This iconic city landmark was built in 1889 for the Exposition Universelle (World’s Fair) to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution. Designed by the company of engineer Gustave Eiffel, it was initially criticized by many artists and intellectuals for its bold, industrial look. Despite the controversy, it became a symbol of modern engineering. Standing 324 meters tall, it was the world’s tallest man-made structure until 1930. Today, the Eiffel Tower is one of the most famous landmarks in the world and a global symbol of France.
