Adventures in Foam Marble Runners

Last week, our Year 1 class delved into an exciting project: crafting foam “rollercoasters” for marbles! It was a hands-on experience where children explored, built, adjusted, and learned through trial and error. Here’s a peek into their adventurous journey with foam marble runners.
Building and experimenting: The classroom buzzed with creativity as the children eagerly built their foam marble runners. Using pieces of foam tubing and various materials, students worked in pairs to construct tracks. Some groups opted for straight paths, while other groups experimented with loops and curves.

Learning Through Trial and Error: As they assembled their tracks, the children encountered challenges along the way. Some designs worked seamlessly, guiding marbles smoothly from start to finish. Meanwhile, other configurations required adjustments. This process of trial and error fostered problem-solving skills and perseverance among the young builders.

Collaborative Spirit: Throughout the activity, collaboration and teamwork flourished. Children shared ideas, offered help, and celebrated each other’s successes. They learned the value of cooperation as they worked together to troubleshoot and refine their marble runners.
