Linda Takes the Initiative with a Panda Presentation

Spread the love

During the school holidays, our Year 5 student Linda decided to take her learning beyond the classroom and explore a topic that interested her — pandas.

Linda independently prepared a presentation about these fascinating animals and, after returning to school, took the initiative to share what she had learned with her classmates. She presented her work to the class, confidently introducing her topic and sharing interesting facts about pandas.

What made this particularly special was that the project was entirely student-led. Linda chose the topic herself, prepared the presentation during her own time and decided that she wanted to share her learning with others. Her initiative showed curiosity, independence and a genuine willingness to learn more about a subject that interested her.

Presenting to classmates also gave Linda an opportunity to develop her communication and presentation skills. She had to organise her ideas, decide which information was important and explain what she had learned clearly to an audience.

Her presentation also encouraged other students to ask questions and engage with the topic, turning her individual interest into a shared learning experience for the class.

Linda’s work is a wonderful example of student agency in action. At EISB, we encourage students to take ownership of their learning, follow their interests and share their ideas with others.

We are very proud of Linda for showing such great initiative and for reminding us that learning does not have to stop when the school day ends.

Well done, Linda.
