The Tulip Festival in the Netherlands

Spread the love
The Tulip Festival in the Netherlands takes place in mid-April, although the exact timing depends on when the flowers are in full bloom. During this time, the country becomes covered in bright colors as millions of tulips open across the fields. One of the most famous places to see this is the Keukenhof Gardens near Lisse, where more than seven million flowers are displayed in beautifully designed gardens. Visitors can walk through endless rows of tulips in red, yellow, pink, purple, and many other colors, creating the feeling of a living rainbow. The festival also includes flower parades, where large floats are decorated completely with fresh flowers and travel through towns with music and celebrations. People from all over the world come to see this event because it is one of the largest and most beautiful flower displays on Earth. The Tulip Festival is not only a celebration of spring but also an important part of Dutch culture and horticultural tradition, showing the countryโ€™s long history of growing and caring for flowers.

We also used this beautiful festival as a great art inspiration in our environmental club. The children painted tulips in many bright colors against a green grass background just as they saw in the video from the festival. This helped them think about nature, seasons, and the importance of flowers in our environment. Each piece was unique and full of creativity, showing how differently each child sees spring. The final artworks turned out absolutely amazing and brought a lovely touch of Dutch spring into our classroom. What made the experience even more special was that everyone could take five different real tulips home.
