π 23 March 2026: Celebrating World Meteorological Day π
πβ¨ A Spontaneous Celebration of World Meteorological Day β¨ π¦οΈ
Sometimes the best learning moments happen unexpectedly! Today, we discovered that it is World Meteorological Day, and our Grade 2 – B classroom quickly turned this into a meaningful learning opportunity.
In our unit βHow the World Works,β students explored how weather shapes our world and impacts our lives.
We began with a discussion about meteorologyβhow scientists study weather to help us understand and stay safe during different weather conditions. Students shared their own experiences and observations, making real-life connections to their learning. βWhen it rains a lot, the roads get flooded and we cannot go outside,β shared one student, connecting their understanding to how weather impacts daily life.
To deepen their understanding, students engaged in an exciting art integration activity, where they illustrated extreme weather conditions such as storms, floods, and tornadoes. Their artwork beautifully captured the power of nature and reflected their growing awareness of how weather affects our lives.
Through this experience, students demonstrated key IB learner profile attributes as inquirers, thinkers, and communicators, asking thoughtful questions and expressing their ideas creatively.
This spontaneous moment reminded us that learning is everywhereβand when we connect it to real-world events, it becomes even more meaningful and memorable. ππͺοΈ
