Year 7 Reflects on Growing Up
Who Am I Becoming?
This week, our Year 7 students took part in a workshop built around one big question: “Who am I becoming?” They explored the changes that happen during adolescence, from brain development and emotions to friendships, identity and independence.
Students discussed how growing up can sometimes feel confusing, especially when they are no longer children but not yet adults. They learned why emotions can feel so intense, how hormonal changes affect the body and mind, and why everyone develops at their own pace.
The workshop also focused on relationships and peer pressure. Students reflected on the importance of being themselves, respecting others, communicating openly and having the courage to stand up for people who are being hurt or excluded.

We are proud of the thoughtful way our Year 7 students engaged with these discussions. Growing up is a journey, and we want every student to feel supported, understood and confident as they discover who they are becoming.
We finished by sharing practical advice: talk to someone you trust, be kind to yourself and others, and remember that your friends are going through changes too. Nobody has to navigate adolescence alone.

Following students’ questions about managing overwhelming emotions, we will continue the conversation at this Friday’s Assembly, exploring practical strategies they can use in everyday life.
