🐝 A Sweet Learning Adventure: Our Visit to the Honey Farm

Spread the love

This week, our preschool class enjoyed a truly special and “sweet” learning experience during our visit to a honey farm in Devínska Nová Ves. The trip offered children a wonderful opportunity to explore nature, science, and the important role bees play in our world — all in a hands-on and engaging way.

During an interactive presentation, the children were introduced to the fascinating world of bees. They learned about the different types of bees and their roles within the hive, including the hardworking worker bees, the drones, and the important queen bee. One of the highlights was discovering how bees communicate — through a special “dance” that helps them share information about where to find food.

The children also explored how honey is made, from nectar collection to the process inside the hive. They were especially interested in learning why bees are so important for our environment, helping plants grow through pollination.

Of course, no visit to a honey farm would be complete without tasting! The children had the chance to try a variety of honey types and flavors, including crystallized honey, whipped honey, and even unique varieties such as cinnamon, cacao, and lemon. This sensory experience was a big hit and sparked lots of curiosity and excitement.

Another highlight of the trip was seeing how honey is carefully extracted from the honeycomb — a fascinating process that brought their learning to life. To finish the day, each child created their own mini candle from beeswax, giving them a special handmade souvenir to take home.

This trip was not only enjoyable but also rich in learning, helping children connect with nature while developing their understanding of the world around them. It was a wonderful reminder of how even the smallest creatures, like bees, play a big role in our lives.
