Year 7 Art – Perspective unit

Every year, year 7 has a perspective unit, where students learn about 1, 2 and 3 point perspective. This is one of the most important fundamentals of art. By applying the logic of relevant vanishing points, students can achieve original creative compositions, often sureal, and playful.

This was a part of our November open house display, where you can see the same skill applied in completely different ways – you can actually find out a lot about each person by observing their art, whether they realise it or not.

The students were free to work with a medium of their choice as long as the perspective logic works.

This is a display which features 2 different year 7 units as well – Elements of art, and landscapes in art history. We can see that the knowledge from the perspective unit has been applied, even though that unit was way earlier in the year.
