Paris Trip: Notre-Dame
During our trip to Paris at the end of the last school year, we had the opportunity to explore many historic landmarks. One of the most remarkable was the iconic Notre-Dame Cathedral, a stunning example of French Gothic architecture.
Construction of the cathedral began in 1163 and spanned nearly two centuries. Throughout its long history, Notre-Dame has been the site of many significant events in French history, including the coronation of Napoleon Bonaparte and the beatification of Joan of Arc.
In 2019, a devastating fire caused severe damage to the cathedral, destroying its spire and a significant portion of the roof. After years of careful restoration, it reopened to the public in December 2024.
