🎒 Behind the Classroom Door: Our First Coffee ☕with Parents 👫

☕ Coffee, Conversations & New Beginnings | Year 3 2026–27.

There is something special about the first meeting with parents at the beginning of a school year. It is the moment when the classroom opens its doors not only to the children, but also to the families who will be part of their journey.

Yesterday, we welcomed our Year 3 parents for our first Coffee with Parents. Over a cup of coffee and lots of conversation, we got to know each other, introduced our classroom and shared what the year ahead might look like.

We talked about learning through inquiry and what it means to be a Year 3 learner — asking questions, being curious, making connections, sharing ideas and reflecting along the way. We also introduced our units and shared the Parent Unit Overview so that families can see what their children will be discovering and exploring throughout the year.

Of course, school life is also made up of the little things that matter every day. We talked about HLT, Literature Circles, birthdays, medicine, leave and punctuality, as well as food allergies and healthy snacks. We also talked about staying connected through Edu-Page and, most importantly, keeping communication open between home and school.

But the heart of our morning was partnership.

We spoke about how children thrive when the adults around them work together, listen to one another and share the same goal — helping children feel happy, confident and ready to learn.

And then came our little Year 3 twist! 😊

We finished our Coffee with Parents with “2 Stars and 1 Wish.” Just as our students reflect on their learning and give feedback, our parents did the same. It was lovely to see them experience a small part of what happens in our classroom every day.

Their stars made us smile, and their wishes gave us something to think about as we move forward.

Because a new school year is not about having everything figured out from day one. It is about starting together, listening to each other and growing along the way.

And that is exactly how we hope our Year 3 journey will be. 🌱
